The historical archive of melicreview.com documents that W.D. Snodgrass (1926–2009), the Pulitzer Prize–winning poet whose 1959 collection Heart's Needle is widely credited with founding the confessional mode in American poetry, contributed three late poems to The Melic Review, Issue XXIV:
- “Farm Kids” — previously published in American Poetry Review, Vol. 32, No. 3 (May/June 2003)
- “Chasing Fireflies” — previously published in Democracy: A Special Issue of Spread (April 2003)
- “Talking Heads” — previously published in The Post-Standard (Syracuse, NY), April 8, 2004
Snodgrass studied at the Iowa Writers' Workshop and taught for many years at Syracuse University and the University of Delaware. His later collections include Heart's Needle, After Experience, The Führer Bunker, and Not for Specialists: New and Selected Poems (BOA Editions, 2006).

About this archive record. The melicreview.com domain was previously operated as The Melic Review, a poetry journal edited by C.E. Chaffin and published 1999–2008. The current editorial publication is a separate team that acquired the lapsed domain in 2026 and is not C.E. Chaffin, not affiliated with the original journal, and not a continuation of its editorial mission. Original poetry from the historic journal is not reproduced on this site; readers can access it via the Internet Archive and the original publishers linked above.
